"Alexander vs Bradley"
Huge Junior Welterweight battle this Saturday night in Detroit. This fight should be packed with speed, defense and strategy as both fighters are as technically sound as they are athletic. As of know, I have not seen the odds on this one but I would imagine they are fairly close to even with maybe Bradley getting a slight edge with the bookmakers. Bradley has the size and skill to outpoint Alexander, but Alexander has the rough background that could turn this technicians dream into an all out brawl that would make Arturo Gatti smile.

"Marroquin wins"
As expected, Marroquin drilled through Arcos last night, continuing his climb up the featherweight ladder. It is time for Marroquin to get a shot at someone in the top 10-15, he is ready..

"Roberto Marroquin"
Roberto Marroquin from Dallas puts his perfect record on the line Saturday night against Eduardo Arcos (17-2, 14 KOs). Marroquin was great in the amateurs and has a chance to be the best fighter to come out of Texas since Juan Diaz or Rocky Juarez. Although perfect, Marroquin has for the most part been in against easy challenges as his opponents have a combined record of 122- 86-14.Notwithstanding, Eduardo shouldn't present much of a problem for Marroquin, Eduardo himself has yet to face anything above a club fighter in his professional career. The fight for Marroquin is a stepping stone, one that will be short and sweet.......
Berto vs. Ortiz
ESPN is reporting that Andre Berto and Victor Ortiz are in talks for a possible April 16th bout. Berto, a welterweight (27-0, 21 KOs) should easily run his record to 28 victories if the match materializes. Berto has good size and good power, nothing great (yet), but he is clearly a level or two above Ortiz. Ortiz is a good physical prospect, but his heart became an eminent question mark after he felt Maidana's power in their bout (06/27/09) and has since shown disinterest. Moreover, Ortiz will have to come up a class to face the bigger Berto and this is not good for Ortiz. If it happens, Ortiz will not finish the fight, and it probably wont go longer than 8-9 rounds.

"Protect yourself at all times"
Manfredo got the knockdown, and ultimately the decision. Manfredo rocked (literally) Edouard and dropped him in the early part of the fight as Edouard pulled back out of a break without protecting himself. Consequently, Edouard was never the same and Manfredo piled up points to take the victory. In a bit of a surprise, Pryor Jr. lost a unanimous decision to Edwin Rodriguez on the under-card. Rodriguez moves to 18-0 with the victory and made himself a viable opponent in the super middleweight division.

"Tonights Predictions"
Tonight I see Manfredo coming out strong at the bell, making a hard charge at Edouard and staggering him in final minute of the first. Manfredo will settle in and work the body in the next 3-4 rounds, eventually getting a knockdown in the 5th. Nonetheless, Edouard recovers and hurts an overextended Manfredo late in the fight, but the fight will go the distance. The decision will be close, but Manfredo's early work gets him a 2 point decision. The only notable name on the under-card is Aaron Pryor Jr., he does not resemble his dad in any way, but still has a decent future if he keeps progressing. Pryor should win by stoppage in round 4.

"Friday Night Fights"
The new boxing year is heating up as is evident with the upcoming matches on "Friday Night Fights." Tomorrow night the series takes its show to Key West Florida where Peter Manfredo Jr. headlines a Super middleweight (165lbs) bout. Manfredo Jr. gets a shot at reviving his rather languid journey as he takes on Daniel "The Haitian Sensation" Edouard, both fighters need a victory to advance their careers from prospect to contender. The odds-makers have it about even so a battle definitely awaits, should be full of action and blood.....
