"Blue Jay"

I have a pretty neat situation going on in my backyard. Right outside the window by the breakfast table I have a tree. In this tree a Blue Jay has built a nest and decided to raise the youngsters here. The bird is very dedicated as it sits there in the nest all day long. No matter the weather conditions or the roaming cat that wanders down below the bird just sits there incubating those eggs. It is almost intoxicating watching that bird peacefully sit there after I watched the nest be constructed over the past few weeks. I'm very interested to see the babies come, I think that will be really cool. I have put some bird seed out at the base of the tree but I'm not sure if it is what the Blue Jay likes? Does anybody know what Blue Jays like?

"In New Orleans"

I'm currently in New Orleans for work. The weather has been nice, however I have been trapped in doors so I have not been able to experience much of this! Last night I did have some wonderful cajun food, probably some of the best I've ever eaten! The link I have chosen to list on the blog is to an article on Michele Bachman. I think she would be a great leader as she seems to be both practical and smart. Who knows though, these politicians these days are so hard to read, the talk a great game but are so hard to trust? Anyway, I better finish up my reports before bed, hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!! http://www.slate.com/id/2289347/

"Frustration with the cat"

So, about a year and a half ago I was given two cats. This brought my total of cats in the house to three as my mother pushed hers on me four years ago. She asked me to keep her cat, Peaches, for "a week or two" as she was going out of town. As fate would have it, four years later I still have Peaches. Anyway, back to the other two cats. As I stated earlier I was given two male cats about a year and a half ago. I named them Gatti and Thunder to honor the boxer I most respected; Arturo "Thunder" Gatti. I relieved the two cats around the time that Arturo Gatti was found hanging from a noose in an apartment in Brazil. Speculation still surrounds the events that transpired and lead to his death, but to keep his memory alive I gave my two cats his name. Anyway, I had to bury Gatti about two months ago as he was hit by a car, it was hard to do but I had to give him the respect of a proper burial. He was a great cat that I loved a lot. So now I have just Peaches and Thunder. Peaches really does no wrong as she is the perfect pet. However, the same can not be said for Thunder as he has a bad habit of peeing or spraying the furniture every now and again. As a general rule it is always the same part of the same couch. It is possible to lessen the damage it causes extreme steam cleaning, but it seems impossible to fully get the stench out. I'm going to have to totally trash this couch and get a new one. The strange thing is that he doesn't always do it? I dunno, I'm at a loss.........

"Japan"

This Tsunami is crazy. The images of all the water redesigning the landscape in Japan is mind boggling! Moreover, the nuclear facility that is about to meltdown because of this horrific nightmare is very scary. I read reports that a Tsunami travels ten miles a second, that is hard to imagine. All this reminds me of how fragile life is and how defenseless we are at defending it when the end comes. I hope and pray that the friends and family of those that are lost get through this thing in good order. Reports that 9500 people are missing, from one small town. That is amazing that 9500 are missing from only one town! As bad as this disaster is, the one a few years ago in Asia is believed to have claimed 250,000 lives! That is basically like one day the entire population of Shreveport disappearing!! Imagine how many people that would effect, how many family and friends would suffer a loss in something that devastating. We really do not understand how lucky we are to wake up and make it through the day, life is really fragile and is only on loan to us. I hope and pray for those that suffered a loss in this catastrophe.........

"Today"

The weather outside today makes you wanna stay inside and watch movies. I need to do plenty of work for class today so I guess I will be inside, just not watching movies. Last night a buddy of mine from high school came by for dinner and brought his 3 year old daughter with him. It was strange seeing him with a child, kinda made me feel old! However, it is cool to see him and her, I guess that is what life is all about? She was a handful, asked a ton of questions and turned the house upside down!!! He seemed really exhausted, guess that is what a 3 year old does to ya! His wife is away this weekend on business so he is going it alone and I can tell that he is already worn out!! Anyway, I better get to work on my revision, hope everyone has a great weekend!!!

"Home Again"

The trip was a success!!! I made it there and back in good order as did my luggage! Unfortunately while in San Diego I received a souvenir in the form of a speeding ticket!!! Eighty-two in a sixty-five! The weather and scenery is outstanding in California, kinda made me want to stay? The plane ride was pleasant as there were no delays. Actually, a few times the plane arrived at its destination early which was refreshing. It was a bit strange going threw the TSA scanner. They make you stand there with your arms extended above your head and your thumbs touching your head (kinda silly). You stand there for ten to twenty seconds while they zap ya. I couldn't help but wonder who was looking at the scan and what it was they were seeing?  I guess we all have those suicidal idiots who hate America to thank for this? I hope they understand that here in America we are impervious to their tactics, we are still traveling and loving our country! OOOOORAH!!!!!

"Trip"

I'm doing my weekly post early as I have to travel to California early in the morning for business and I'm not sure when I will be able to get in front of a computer again. My plane leaves at something like 5:45 in the morning so I will be getting up early!!! I still have to pack and this is something I hate!! I generally pack WAY too much and tote a few hundred pounds of stuff I don't need but I'm always think I will. I have set a goal to pack as few items as possible, I have actually turned it into a game. I want to see if I can get everything into one bag, I think it is possible. I just hope the bag makes it to my destination with me!!!???!?!? The other thing that has me a bit concerned is driving in California. Although I will pick up a rental that will not be mine I still fear having to deal with all the traffic and rabid drivers out there? Well, I better get out the ONE bag and get to stuffing it!!!!

"Mubarak"

It looks like the gig is up for Hosni Mubarak. I think it is awesome that the people of Egypt are taking matters into their own hands and reclaiming their country. The nerve of Mubarak to try and retain control for as long as he did is amazing, you would think that a couple hundred thousand people outside your window screaming for you to leave would be an indication that it is time to leave? The most disturbing bit of information I have read about it concerns Mubarak's net worth. Reports say that Hosni Mubarak is worth eighty billion. Mubarak has been a public servant for thirty-six years and in that amount of time he has managed to accumulate eighty million dollars? He is quiet possibly the best conman this world has ever known. Good luck in retirement Hosni, I hope you find a safe place to hide as the Egyptian people will be looking for you to return their money.

"ME"

I appreciate any and all who read my blog, I'm just a struggling boxer how likes to talk about the "sweet science." Some say I like boxing  a little too much and suggested that I start a blog to talk about it. Well, although the reason for starting this blog is different than the reason suggested by my friends, it is here nonetheless. Enjoy...

"Alexander vs Bradley recap"

It appears the fight between Alexander & Bradley was just what the struggling HBO boxing did not need. It was slow, uneventful and anticlimactic. Bradley nonetheless remained undefeated and collected another Junior Welterweight belt. The biggest surprise of the night was HBO's decision to not show any of the under-card? My only guess as to why the network would do such is there must be fiscal issues preventing HBO from spending the money.

"Alexander vs Bradley"

Huge Junior Welterweight battle this Saturday night in Detroit. This fight should be packed with speed, defense and strategy as both fighters are as technically sound as they are athletic. As of know, I have not seen the odds on this one but I would imagine they are fairly close to even with maybe Bradley getting a slight edge with the bookmakers. Bradley has the size and skill to outpoint Alexander, but Alexander has the rough background that could turn this technicians dream into an all out brawl that would make Arturo Gatti smile.

"Marroquin wins"

As expected, Marroquin drilled through Arcos last night, continuing his climb up the featherweight ladder. It is time for Marroquin to get a shot at someone in the top 10-15, he is ready..

"Roberto Marroquin"

Roberto Marroquin from Dallas puts his perfect record on the line Saturday night against Eduardo Arcos (17-2, 14 KOs). Marroquin was great in the amateurs and has a chance to be the best fighter to come out of Texas since Juan Diaz or Rocky Juarez. Although perfect, Marroquin has for the most part been in against easy challenges as his opponents have a combined record of 122- 86-14.Notwithstanding, Eduardo shouldn't present much of a problem for Marroquin, Eduardo himself has yet to face anything above a club fighter in his professional career. The fight for Marroquin is a stepping stone, one that will be short and sweet.......

Berto vs. Ortiz

ESPN is reporting that Andre Berto and Victor Ortiz are in talks for a possible April 16th bout. Berto, a welterweight (27-0, 21 KOs) should easily run his record to 28 victories if the match materializes. Berto has good size and good power, nothing great (yet), but he is clearly a level or two above Ortiz. Ortiz is a good physical prospect, but his heart became an eminent question mark after he felt Maidana's power in their bout (06/27/09) and has since shown disinterest. Moreover, Ortiz will have to come up a class to face the bigger Berto and this is not good for Ortiz. If it happens, Ortiz will not finish the fight, and it probably wont go longer than 8-9 rounds.

"Protect yourself at all times"

Manfredo got the knockdown, and ultimately the decision. Manfredo rocked (literally) Edouard and dropped him in the early part of the fight as Edouard pulled back out of a break without protecting himself. Consequently, Edouard was never the same and Manfredo piled up points to take the victory. In a bit of a surprise, Pryor Jr. lost a unanimous decision to Edwin Rodriguez on the under-card. Rodriguez moves to 18-0 with the victory and made himself a viable opponent in the super middleweight division.

"Tonights Predictions"

Tonight I see Manfredo coming out strong at the bell, making a hard charge at Edouard and staggering him in final minute of the first. Manfredo will settle in and work the body in the next 3-4 rounds, eventually getting a knockdown in the 5th. Nonetheless, Edouard recovers and hurts an overextended Manfredo late in the fight, but the fight will go the distance. The decision will be close, but Manfredo's early work gets him a 2 point decision. The only notable name on the under-card is Aaron Pryor Jr., he does not resemble his dad in any way, but still has a decent future if he keeps progressing. Pryor should win by stoppage in round 4.

"Friday Night Fights"

The new boxing  year is heating up as is evident with the upcoming matches on "Friday Night Fights." Tomorrow night the series takes its show to Key West  Florida where Peter Manfredo Jr. headlines a Super middleweight (165lbs) bout. Manfredo Jr. gets a shot at reviving his rather languid journey as he takes on Daniel "The Haitian Sensation" Edouard, both fighters need a victory to advance their careers from prospect to contender. The odds-makers have it about even so a battle definitely awaits, should be full of action and blood.....
